I finally am all set up for making donuts. I have two different donut cutters, one small and one large, and a candy thermometer to gauge the temperature of the oil.
So last week I had to make donuts just to see how easy it is. I made the dough on Thursday night and stuck it in the fridge as Pioneer Woman instructed. Then Friday morning, bright and early (like 5:30 a.m.) I got up to roll out the dough and cut it into donut shapes.
And while the donuts rose, I went grocery shopping. At 6:30 a.m. Alone. It was wonderful! I should do that more often! So last week I had to make donuts just to see how easy it is. When I got home I fried the donuts and Rebecca iced them. Meanwhile John was shining up his Thunderbird. As soon as the last dough was done frying we climbed in the old car and headed to Rich's house.
Because you can't not share homemade donuts.
Jerry and Brina and their family were also at Rich's because he was their ride to the airport. They were taking a family trip to Washington D.C. By the time they pulled out of the driveway, every last donut had been eaten. I'd call that a success.
